O-ring, with a different spelling, is one of the elements used for mechanical sealing and takes its name from being an O-shaped round. These elements, designed to place gaskets at their interface, to achieve a compressed joint between two or more parts that fit into the groove, have relative mobility between rotating faces such as pump shafts and hydraulic cylinders. O-ring types, which are used to reduce wear at low cost without the need for lubrication between movable joints, are important in order to make the systems cheap and easy or to make the assembly stage reliable and simple.
