How To Replace The Water Pump On Ford or Mercury.
Required Parts:
1. Outer Tank - This part is usually found on the front of a Ford or Mercury car. It has a cylindrical shape and contains the water pump and other related parts.
2. Oil Pump - This part is located in the back of a Ford or Mercury car, near the idle wheel. It also has a gear drive that helps power the water pump.
3. Water Pump - The water pump in Ford or Mercury cars must be replaced for your vehicle to maintain its functionality. To replace it you will need to remove the motor cover and remove the four screws on one end of the pump (this part can be removed with a Phillips screwdriver). Once these screws are removed you will see two rubber gaskets (one on each corner) that need replacing. Replacement gaskets can be found online or at most auto parts stores.

Figure 1: Remove the old water pump with a hair dryer.
After determining the new location, remove and replace the new pump as follows:
1) Cut one end of each wire extending from the outside of the car to the inside of the car (shown in blue in Figure 2). Thread these wires together, then cut one end of each wire and twist them together (shown in green in Figure 2). This will create a node (shown in red in Figure 2).
2) Place both ends of each wire back in their original positions, then screw them back in place (shown in yellow in Figure 2). You may need to use pliers or a hammer to hold both ends as you screw it into place.
